For my next 30-day challenge I am going to do oil pulling. It’s an ancient Indian technique used to remove toxins by swishing and holding oil in your mouth for 20 minutes.
Some people claim it can help with headaches, fatigue, allergies, and diabetes. I don’t expect it to help me with those things. I think those may have been the results of other healthy choices people were making when they tried oil pulling.
I’m trying it because it is supposed to help pull bacteria out of your gums and from between your teeth.
I’m going to be using a spoonful of coconut oil for 20 minutes per day. A couple other oils people sometimes use are sunflower, palm, and sesame.
I also saw it suggested that it be done before brushing and on an empty stomach. I can understand the empty stomach part because if you haven’t just eaten you will have less solids on your teeth.
I don’t understand doing it before brushing. It seems like you would want the oil to be able to get to your teeth. I’ll be brushing before I do it.
